Landscape Design

Landscape Architecture & Garden Design

We understand that every project is unique. As a result, we adapt our design services to client and project needs. The design stage establishes the foundations and objectives for a project. This phase is where we translate the client’s needs and desires into the form and function of the space and develop the look and feel of the garden.

01. Consultation

Our consultations involve a 30-60 minute on-site meeting with a member of our design team. The consultation allows us to familiarise ourselves with the site, architecture and surrounding environment, the scope of the project and to learn more about the client. This meeting also gives us a chance to discuss the client's budget and initial ideas.

02. Concept Design

This stage is where we create a schematic plan of the outdoor space. The concept design lays out the spatial arrangement, identifies opportunities and constraints and shows proposed landscape elements such as swimming pools, decks and pergolas, hard and soft surface areas, and recommendations for the planting palette. Accompanying the plan are mood boards and precedent imagery.

03. Budget Estimate

Following the presentation of the final Concept Design, we present a Budget Estimate for construction, prepared by our estimator and construction manager.

04. Approval Process

If the job requires council approval such as Development Application (DA) or a Complying Development Certificate (CDC). Our team, working with sub-consultants (certifiers, engineers, town planners) can prepare and lodge all necessary documentation.

05. Construction Documentation

Based on the approved Concept Design and Budget Estimate, we prepare the construction documentation. We then hand these detailed drawings to our construction team, specialist contractors and fabricators for final quoting and installation. This drawings package includes all construction details, set out, materials and finishes specification, planting schedule and procurement.

"I always dreamed about having a beautiful garden when I first purchased my house. Outdoor Establishments were recommended by a friend. They worked alongside my builder and architect with the design and creation of my beautiful outdoor space for my family and friends to enjoy with me. I was so proud when they won the 2016 LNA Master Landscape Award for Residential Garden up to $150,000. They continue to maintain the garden for me. Their passion for their work is remarkable and I highly recommend them." Tracey Van Weelde

Outdoor Construction & Building

Our highly awarded construction team will complete all structural works through to soft works and finishes. The onsite team includes a site manager, qualified tradespeople and landscape apprentices with a construction project manager and garden designer to supervise and monitor the build process with regular site visits.

01. Construction

Once the Concept Design and Construction Documentation have been finalised, we commence our work on site. This includes excavations, structural landscaping, building of design elements and features, plumbing and electrical installation, material implementation, and final finishes. Our project manager and team of experts will ensure this process runs smoothly and timely.

Contemporary Pool & Garden

"We engaged Outdoor Establishments to undertake our outdoor transformation after recommendation by a friend who had recently completed a project with them. We had met with a number of different companies prior to our first on site consultation and from the initial meeting we found that Matt Hook and his team understood our needs and gave us invaluable advice throughout the project.

Matt and the team were reliable, honest, knowledgeable and very easy to deal with. The communication was excellent and we were kept well informed as to the program and the upcoming works each week. We were always kept aware of costs and the project came in within budget.

The entire Outdoor Establishments team and their tradespeople were very professional and the best we have dealt with. Our front and back yard was busy with workmen everyday and left clean and tidy at the end of each day. We were extremely happy with the quality of the workmanship in all areas including tiling, decking, rendering and painting - and of course the plants!" Justine and Raymond Hughes

Horticulture

Planting Design & Installation

Our qualified horticulturists and landscape gardeners specialise in the cultivating of gardens. For most clients, we design and build spaces from start to finish and hence this phase would not be necessary. However, we can be engaged by a client or architect to focus solely on the horticultural elements of a project. In this case, a Horticultural Consultation is required so as to determine client and garden requirements. This service is tailored towards projects where all structural works fall under the scope of the architect and builder.

02. Planting Plan

A Planting Plan is produced in consultation with all interested parties (client + architect). This includes species selection, quantities, and stock sizes and will be accompanied by a quote for installation.

03. Installation

Once engaged to install the garden, our team will prepare the soils, install irrigation systems, source and install all plant stock and finish the gardens with appropriate fertilisers and mulch.

Preservation & Growth

Sydney’s dramatic seasonal changes have a huge impact on a garden. We offer a professional garden maintenance service to clients we have designed and constructed for or new clients with a garden that needs professional care to achieve its full potential.

01. Consultation

Our consultations involve a 30-minute on-site meeting with a member of our horticulture team. The site consultation allows us to familiarise ourselves with the garden and prepare a fee proposal for our recommended maintenance program.

02. Maintenance Program

With the goal being to establish and grow our client's gardens, we will consider the requirements, frequency of visits as well as the time needed per visit. Our services include weeding, pest and disease management, pruning, lawn care, mulching, maintenance of irrigation systems, seasonal planting, fertilising and general property maintenance.
