Lilyfield
SMALL BUT MIGHTY
We acknowledge the Wangal and Gadigal People. The traditional custodians of the land and waters of which this landscape sits.
This project was unique in that our client was both the builder and homeowner. We were engaged early in the planning process to ensure the architectural design of the home made consideration to the future landscape and gardens.
Whilst only small, the project was complex. With limited space and dramatic level changes, major excavation and retaining wall construction were required to create usable landscape spaces. Plate steel welded on site was selected as a space-conscious alternative to bulky retaining walls. Brick and timber repurposed from the site were used as a nod to the original building. In keeping with the rustic aesthetic, materials such as insitu concrete and distressed limestone flooring were selected.
