Lilyfield
SMALL BUT MIGHTY
A unique project with the client being both builder and homeowner, this small yet complex landscape required early creative engagement to establish a strong natural balance between the home’s architectural voice and any future garden designs.
Constrained by limited space and dramatic level changes, major excavation and retaining wall construction were essential to creating usable landscape spaces. Ever-mindful of these limitations, plate steel was welded on site as a space-conscious alternative to bulky retaining walls. And in a nod to both the original building and its sprawling rustic charm, brick and timber repurposed from the site were used extensively alongside in-situ concrete and distressed limestone flooring.
