PAPERBARK GARDEN
This garden and swimming pool renovation in the Eastern suburbs of Sydney was designed & built to meet the needs of a young family. Privacy from the neighbouring apartment buildings and durable materials that provide low maintenance living for years to come were essential, as was the addition of a flowing ‘spill-out’ entertaining area linking the indoors to the outdoors.
From the street to the backyard, granite tiles and cobblestones were selected for the driveway, outdoor flooring and swimming pool coping. Galvanised steel, off-form concrete, glass and both spotted gum & cedar timbers were included, expanding on the existing material palette within the home, creating a strong relationship between the house and its new surroundings.
To balance these muted tones against something with a brighter pop, clumping bamboo and star jasmine accent the garden with a lush green presence along the fence line, connecting visitors with the natural environment.
