Redfern Warehouse
ADAPTIVE REUSE
This award-winning warehouse conversion in the inner-Sydney suburb of Redfern was a collaboration with Ian Moore Architects and Elliott Projects. With the opportunity to design and create gardens in the internal atrium, swimming pool and upper terrace areas, the brief allowed for the meaningful exploration of microclimatic conditions across the residence.
To maintain a consistent level of quality both inside and outside, custom planters were fabricated to match the high-level finishes found throughout the home.
The planting palette was chosen in collaboration with the client – who, as an avid gardener, selected plants that would be a reflection of themselves and their home. An advanced Queensland Fan palm was sourced and transported from Townsville and positioned as the centrepiece in the swimming pool area. And to round out the internal transformation, a real lawn was installed on what once had been the second level of the warehouse.
